Stand up! The work break timer by Raised square LLC
Read time: 1 min

“The app’s goal is to encourage people to take small standing breaks at specific intervals throughout the day. This is especially useful for us students who are sitting in class most of the day (or sitting on the couch, for that matter). All the user needs to do is to set up time boundaries (for example, I use it from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day) and the frequency of breaks (I use it every 45 minutes). You can also set the app to give you breaks at specific locations if you enable location services. Don’t have an iPhone? There’s also a similar app for Android users, linked below.”

USEFUL?
Rating: 5 out of 5 stars
Stand Up! The Work Break Timer accomplished its goal, which was to get me up and moving. If you’re looking for an excuse to take a healthy break when studying or even just sitting around your dorm room, this is a great app to try.

FUN?
Rating: 4 out of 5 stars
The app itself is just a timer, so it’s not inherently what I’d call “fun.” However, what you do with the time you’ve gained can be fun—it’s up to you. I will say though, the app could use something more engaging or rewarding to help you fulfill all of your scheduled breaks.

I get an extra hour of working energy with regular breaks. When I know that I have a small break coming, it’s easy to push toward a goal. This is the great strength of the app. And it keeps me sane when working in the library for several hours.
