Build your school’s reputation of having one of the best college career centers

Your students gain much of the knowledge and skills they need for a fulfilling career through their academic endeavors, but they require additional support when it comes to real-life skills that aren’t taught in classes—such as how to successfully find and negotiate job offers. Employers look beyond a recent grad’s major and GPA to determine their qualification for a position; they also consider real world experience gained during work-study placements, internships, and summer jobs. This, combined with the financial uncertainty caused by the pandemic, is why having one of the best college career centers is more important than ever.

How well your students and graduates succeed professionally directly impacts their financial wellness and influences your school’s reputation, retention levels, and the type of applicants you will see year-after-year. By facilitating real world experience for your students, your school can increase the chances that they will complete their degrees at your institution and find a fulfilling career.

The career center’s role

Your career center already works to help your students find prospective jobs, get hired, and succeed as an employee in a globally-competitive workforce. These services go far beyond simply posting on-campus jobs, internships, and career opportunities. Résumé workshops, mock interviews, networking events, and other resources can help your students prepare for a professional lifestyle.

So, how can your college’s career center better support your students to help them attain their ultimate career goals? Does it have all the resources needed to prepare students to transition into the world of work? If so, is your school successfully promoting the many services your career center offers so that all of your students are fully aware of and can benefit from them—whether in-person or learning remotely?

CampusWell’s role
